Common questions about remote work

What does “remote” actually mean on WorkRemotely?

Every listing carries one of three mutually exclusive labels: Anywhere (work from any country), Office-tied (remote but requires some office time), or Region locked (fully remote but you must live in a specific region or UTC offset). You know the real constraints before you apply.

Can I find jobs I can do from anywhere in the world?

Yes. Filter by the “Anywhere” label to see only roles the company will hire for regardless of where you live (subject to local employment and tax rules). These are the true work-from-anywhere positions.

How do the region and timezone labels work?

Roles labelled Region locked are fully remote but restricted: you must live in a listed country, region (Americas, EMEA, APAC), or specific UTC offset. Use the filters to show only the roles you actually qualify for.

Can I filter by salary?

Yes. When a company or ATS feed publishes pay, the range appears on the card. Under More filters you can set a minimum and a maximum annual salary (for example $80,000 to $120,000). A role is shown when its published band overlaps the band you asked for.

Is browsing and applying free?

Yes. Browsing is free, requires no account, and never asks for a résumé or personal data. You apply directly on the company’s own site. Companies pay a flat $50 fee only when they post a role directly on WorkRemotely.

Where do the job listings come from?

Most listings are pulled from companies’ own public ATS feeds (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, etc.) so the board is never empty. Companies can also post a role directly; those paid listings get a dedicated page and higher placement.

How do I post a job as a company?

Go to the Post a job page, fill in the short wizard (company details, role, the three remote labels, and apply URL), then pay the one-time $50 fee. The role goes live immediately and stays up for 30 days.

Why does every listing carry a remote label?

Because “remote” on its own tells you nothing you can act on. Every listing on WorkRemotely declares its real constraint up front and makes it filterable and shareable, with clear separation between worldwide, office-tied, and region-restricted roles. No account walls, no résumé upload.

Active users right now

Every active user on this page is a potential remote worker. This is where they are, by country, at this moment. We work the country out from the network address of the request and throw the address away, so no address is ever stored.

The board is new, so the map also carries a simulated audience that refreshes every few seconds. Countries ease on and off as sessions would. Real users are counted in the same figures.
